Richie Arndt (born February 23, 1958 in Bielefeld ; real name Heinrich Richard Arndt ) is a German blues and rock musician .

Already in his early youth Arndt learned the electric guitar, studied music education and graduated from the popular music model experiment (today pop course ) at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg , where he studied with Inga Rumpf , Peter Weihe and Rainer Baumann (musicians) .

After ten years as a professional musician with the top 40 band Skydogs , (including with the later comedian Atze Schröder on drums), he finished his training as a German and music teacher. In addition to his job as a comprehensive school teacher, he was able to gain fame in the national blues scene from 1995 with his Bluenatics (Frank Boestfleisch, drums; Jens-Ulrich Handreka, bass).

In 2007 he initiated Rorymania , a CD and live project that presented songs by Irish guitar legend Rory Gallagher with the participation of German blues guitarists Alex Conti , Henrik Freischlader and Gregor Hilden . In 2009 he published Train Stories , a CD / audio book combination with songs and texts on the subject of "Train Songs", on which he can be heard as a narrator in addition to his role as singer and guitarist. After various collaborations and studio work with the German Blues Project, Kellie Rucker u. v. a. After a trip to the Mississippi and the birthplaces of the blues, Arndt recorded another successful audio book with a music CD in 2015, "Mississippi - Songs along the road".

In 2015 Richie Arndt received the Blues in Germany BiG Blues Award 2014 as best Contemporary Blues Artist-Germany, in June 2016 he won the German Blues Awards for the best album 2016 for Mississippi - Songs Along the road . In 2018 he was awarded the German Blues Award for best voice (male) alongside Inga Rumpf (for best female voice).

After the dissolution of his Bluenatics and the re-establishment of the Richie Arndt Band in 2018, he took part in the German Blues Challenge with them in the same year and won. Afterwards he represented Germany in January 2019 at the international Blues Challenge in Memphis, reached the 'Semifinals' and was one of the top 50 'unsigned artists' worldwide. The European Blues Challenge held in the Azores in March 2019 was also successful.

He is currently on tour with his 2018 albums Moments unplugged (with Gregor Hilden ) and Back to Bad (Richie Arndt & Band). He also performs his audio-visual report with live music about the Mississippi and its myth and importance in American music history. In addition, he presents guest musicians such as George Kochbeck , Kellie Rucker, Lisa Mills , Kai Strauss and others on his winter blues tour every year .
