Elephant is a Hamburg rock group that was founded in 1978 by the native Heligoland Paul Botter.

history

Elephant has toured nationwide and Europe (including with Mitch Ryder ) and has appeared on numerous radio and TV shows. Elephant was considered the best live band in Hamburg in the eighties. The band sees one of its highlights as the opening act for the Beach Boys at an open air concert in Bad Segeberg.

The first two albums contained powerful rock music. The following albums tended more towards funk rock. The formation's best-known title was "I Don't Wanna Lose You" from 1983.

In addition to Paul Botter as singer , Alexander von Oswald ( guitar and vocals), Claus Epe ( keyboard ), Reinhard Lehmann ( drums ) and Klaus Hormann ( bass ) played.

1981 Frank Fischer replaced Klaus Hormann on bass and in 1985 Mickie Stickdorn (see also Lake ) replaced Reinhard Lehmann on drums.

The producer was first Geoffrey Peacey and co-producer of the Lake producer Detlef Petersen , later Detlef Petersen as producer and Geoffrey Peacey as co-producer.

In 1986 the band broke up with their farewell concert in the sold-out music club Große Freiheit 36 in Hamburg.

In 2004 there was a temporary comeback. The band was formed with the following line-up: Paul Botter (vocals), Markus Schmidt (guitar), Adrian Askew (keyboards), Peter Kühmstedt (bass) and Mickie Stickdorn (drums).
