The DJK Augsburg-Lechhausen is a sports club from the Augsburg district of Lechhausen , whose softball department currently plays in the Bundesliga .
history
The DJK Augsburg-Lechhausen was founded in 1920 after the end of the First World War as part of the Sports Association of German Youth (DJK) and in the early years was mainly known for the fistball department , which was German champions of the DJK Association several times. After the forced dissolution of the association by the National Socialists in 1935, the association was not reactivated until 1956. Since then, the club has been steadily expanded to include departments and today offers badminton , ballet , football , gymnastics , bowling , softball , tennis , table tennis and hiking .
Softball
The softball department Augsburg Dirty Slugs of the DJK Augsburg-Lechhausen provides several teams. The first team plays in the softball Bundesliga in the 2017 season , the second team in the national league.
Soccer
The football department of the DJK Augsburg-Lechhausen only has male teams. Due to the commitment of professional footballers who let their careers come to an end here, the club has already been reported several times in the national press. So played, among others, André Hofschneider , Kreso Kovacec and Janos Radoki for DJK Augsburg-Lechhausen. The first men's team will play in the Augsburg Mitte district class in the 2019/20 season, the reserve team in the A-class Augsburg West. The club is known nationwide for its youth work in football and received the Sepp Herberger Prize for it in 2010 .
