The German Digital Award , DMMA Online Star until 2014 , is an award ceremony that emerged in 2010 as a merger of the German Multimedia Award (DMMA) and the online star . The organizers are the Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft (BVDW) e. V. and the Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg (MFG). In 2015 the award was redesigned and renamed by the BVDW.

history

Since 1996 the Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft (BVDW) eV (formerly Deutscher Multimedia Verband eV), founded in 1995, and the Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg (MFG) have awarded the German Multimedia Award (DMMA), a distinction for creative online and offline projects . The award ceremony has been organized by the Ebner Ulm publishing group since 2007 and awarded for outstanding achievements in the field of online advertising. In addition to the audience award, there has been the jury award since 2007, which was included in the creative ranking of W&V and HORIZONT in the first year . On May 6, 2010, the three organizers decided to combine their two awards from the online and creative industries. In 2013, the Ebner Ulm publishing group left the joint contract.

Online star jury awards

The Onlinestar Jury Prize was awarded as a symbol for creative, innovative and efficient concepts in the field of online advertising . Advertising, design and communication agencies, advertising companies and individuals (free CDs, ADs etc.) from Germany, Austria and Switzerland were able to take part in the creative prize. The agencies whose work is awarded the DMMA online star receive important points for the respected creative rankings of the digital economy. The industry magazine Horizont and the trade magazine W&V awarded the DMMA OnlineStar 2013 with an evaluation factor of two.

procedure

After a submission phase, all submitted works will be viewed by a jury and evaluated in an online preselection. The best are put on the so-called "shortlist". A jury meeting will decide which entries will be awarded bronze, silver or gold. The prizes are awarded at a festive evening event.

Categories

The jury evaluates nine categories: digital advertising (e.g. all known banner advertising formats, all special formats, video ads , direct marketing measures and forms of viral advertising ), website (e.g. corporate website or public service website ), Microsite (e.g. websites with special thematic and design content that are used for a limited period of time), digital commerce (e.g. all websites with cross-company business processes in the B2B and B2C areas, especially those using wireless communication or concepts that Focus on communication and active customer participation), moving images on the web (e.g. all advertising and device-independent moving image content that is controlled via IP), mobile (e.g. campaigns and individual forms of advertising on mobile devices, such as . The jury consisted of experts from agencies, specialist media and companies. The jury president in 2009 was Anette Scholz, professor for design of digital products, Burg Giebichenstein - University of Art and Design Halle, in 2010 it was Christoph Everke from the Serviceplan Group for innovative communication , in 2012 it was Stefan Kolle, managing director creation at Kolle Rebbe GmbH .

DMMA online star 2012

In 2012, 127 agencies submitted 303 online projects, of which 45 submitted from 28 agencies made it onto the shortlist. Three works were awarded gold, seven silver and thirteen bronze.

DMMA OnlineStar 2010 jury award

On October 26th 2010 the winners of the DMMA Onlinestar 2010 were announced. The shortlist comprised 71 works from 35 agencies. 150 agencies from Germany, Austria and Switzerland submitted 312 online projects.

Onlinestar audience award

The most popular websites were honored with the Onlinestar Audience Award. Every user could rate his favorite websites with the help of the toolbar.

procedure

The most popular websites were determined in a preselection and main selection. Each user could rate his or her favorite websites in the area code. The ten websites in each category that received the highest five-star rating made it into the main vote. A winner was determined from the top 10 in each category.

In 2007 the procedure was changed: In the main election, only the category winners competed against each other. In the end, an overall winner in all categories was determined.

New in 2009: With the Onlinestar Toolbar, users rated their favorite websites directly in the taskbar of their browser. Until September 6, 2009 they could vote for their favorites. From September 7, 2009, the voting took place among the 10 best placed in 16 categories. The winners were announced on October 29, 2009.
