DTM Race Driver 2

DTM Race Driver 2 (English original title: TOCA Race Driver 2 ) is the successor to the computer game DTM Race Driver and the predecessor of DTM Race Driver 3 .

General

In the PS2 version there are 33 championships, 52 authentic racetracks such as Hockenheimring , Zandvoort , Norisring , Laguna Seca , EuroSpeedway Lausitz and over 15 motorsport classes such as the eponymous DTM , GT, V8 Supercar, Mustang Challenge, Formula Ford, Supertrucks, Supercar Cup or Rally available.

Up to 21 racing cars can be shown on a track at the same time. The realistic graphics and the realistic simulated damage model try to create a real racing flair. As in the predecessor, there is a career mode in which you can partially influence the racing classes to be driven. In arcade mode you can put together an individual race. The further you get in your career, the more customization options you unlock for the arcade mode.

Game variations

As a single player, you can play DTM Race Driver 2 in both career mode and arcade mode. The multiplayer mode enables joint races for up to 12 players via the network. There is also a simulator mode and time trial.

Criticism and evaluation

The game was rated 90% by the magazine Play Station 2 Star , by the game magazine Video Games aktuell it was named “Top-Hit” and the magazine Play The Playstation said it was “1A racing game simulation; A full racing package. ” It was named“ Hit ”by PlayZone magazine and the“ Golden Crown ” by Play King .

In direct comparison to the competitor product Gran Turismo 4 , the advantage of the DTM 2 game is the damage model that is not built into the GT 4 , but GT 4 has better graphics.
