DTM Race Driver 3: Create & Race is a racing game for the Nintendo DS that was released in 2007 . In contrast to DTM Race Driver 3 , this game was specially developed for the portable DS and therefore contains exclusive features.

content

Since DTM Race Driver 3 Create and Race is an offshoot of DTMRD 3 , the content of both games is the same: The aim is to win competitions against other drivers in different racing classes. The further you progress in the game, the more powerful vehicles are available. The races are held on real race tracks such as the Hockenheimring . Different modes are integrated into the game: Simulation , Pro Tour World Tour and Multiplayer. The game emphasizes adherence to the laws of physics and realism, which is why it is more of a simulation than an arcade racing game. A central element of the game is building and driving your own course, the title of the game Create & Race is due to this. In many modes of the game points can be earned that can be exchanged for parts of the race track for the editor or for exclusive racing series.

Pro tour

The Pro Tour is a playable mode. While you initially drive in less prestigious classes such as the Renault Clio Cup , better-known competitions such as the Australian V8 supercar series are unlocked through victories and good performances , and it is even possible to take part in the DTM .

World Tour

The structure is very similar to the Pro Tour, only the career of a racing driver is divided into different levels, a championship can be selected for each level. Mastering a mastery clears the way to higher levels. However, the principle remains: Gradually you can take part in better-known and ultimately international racing championships.

simulation

The simulation mode can in turn be divided into several variants:

  • In the free race , all race classes can be driven. It is not possible to unlock extras or bonuses .
  • The time trial corresponds to the classic mode of the same name. The player tries to drive laps as fast as possible on the given routes using all means.
  • Also challenges are included in the category simulation. Special goals have to be achieved on exercise courses and courses, e.g. B. bypassing several cones.

The Pro Tour , World Tour and Simulation modes can only be played in single player mode .

Multiplayer

The wireless connection of up to 4 consoles, which is why multiplayer games are also possible, even if there is a module in only one Nintendo DS, is supported. In order to be able to use as many modes of the game as possible, all participants in the wireless game must have the necessary module. A connection via Wi-Fi can also be used, which enables competition against owners of the game worldwide.

Route editor

The specialty of the game is the supplied editor with which routes can be built and used. Up to 8 courses can be stored on one module. In addition to the actual parts of a racetrack, you can also add scenery such as grandstands and forests, which, however, have no influence on the game. Also TrackMania DS offers such editor.

Differences to DTM Race Driver 3

  • It is possible to create your own race tracks with the help of the touch screen and the stylus .
  • Since the Nintendo DS does not offer the possibilities of a PC or a Playstation, the scope of the game is smaller and the graphics and sound are inferior
  • Using the Wi-Fi function, it is possible to play with players around the world (the requirement is the ability to establish a connection between a router and the DS)
  • The game is only available for the Nintendo DS
  • Some minimal changes were made (changed menu structure, etc.)

Racetracks

The Hockenheimring is an integral part of the DTM
The course in Zandvoort is also playable
The Queensland Raceway, which is less known in Germany, is also integrated into the game
