Daňatar Öwesow

Daňatar Öwesow ( Russian Дангатар Овезов , Turkmen Daňatar Öwezow, Даңатар Өвезов * December 19, 1910 . Jul / 1. January  1911 greg. In the Russian Empire ; † 5. May 1966 in Ashgabat , the Turkmen SSR ) was a Soviet - Turkmen composer and conductor .

Life

Öwesow was born in 1911 in the village of Mülk-Jusup ( Russian Мюльк-Юсуп ) in the province of Mary Turkmenistan (then still part of the Russian Empire ). In 1930 he graduated from a technical college in Tashkent . From 1930 to 1935 he taught at schools in this city. Then he studied with N. Timofejew at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory . From 1941 to 1948 he was the main conductor of the Turkmen National Theater for Opera and Ballet. In 1961 he was given the honorary title “People's Artist of the Turkmen SSR”. His pieces belong to the national repertoire.
