The Dachsberg Chapel is a Marienkapelle at the foot of the Dachsberg in Aegidienberg , a district of Bad Honnef in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district . It is located on a forest property on the L 247 state road between Rottbitze and Stockhausen at the fork in Förster-Wermers-Weg .

history

Until 1955 there was a so-called holy house in the immediate vicinity of today's location , which the former Aegidienberg forester Franz Wermers had built together with his wife. The building, which was torn apart by “bad people” at night, was started in 1809. In 1841 they finally rebuilt and completed the little holy house on the foundations from 1809.

In 1955 the roof and masonry had to be repaired. In addition, due to the increasing traffic on the state road, processions could no longer line up properly. The residents of the nearby towns of Orscheid and Wülscheid collected a considerable amount of money, had the crumbling building torn down and built a new place of worship about 15 meters behind the previous square. The inauguration took place on September 25, 1955.

Every first Sunday in May, the faithful from the Aegidienberg parish, and also from the neighboring parish of Windhagen , march in procession to the Dachsberg chapel.
