Dale Neil Bradley McTavish (born February 28, 1972 in Eganville , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with SaiPa Lappeenranta in the Finnish SM-liiga since 2010 .
Career
Dale McTavish began his career as a hockey player with the Peterborough Petes , for which he was active from 1989 to 1993 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League . With his team he won the J. Ross Robertson Cup , the OHL championship title, in his last year in the 1992/93 season . He then attended Saint Francis Xavier University for two years , for whose ice hockey team he took part in the game operations of the university league Atlantic University Sport . In the 1995 season he also played in six games for the New Jersey Rockin Rollers from the professional inline hockey league Roller Hockey International . On August 1, 1996, the winger received a contract as a free agent with the Calgary Flames , after he had already completed 19 games for their farm team Saint John Flames in the American Hockey League in the 1995/96 season . He previously spent the rest of the time with the Canadian national team, for which he played a total of 53 test matches. In the 1996/97 season , the Canadian made his debut for the Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League , scoring one goal and making two assists. Most of the season, however, he completed again in the AHL team in Saint John, for which he scored 38 scorer points in 56 games, including 16 goals.
For the 1997/98 season McTavish moved to SaiPa Lappeenranta from the Finnish SM-liiga . On the smaller ice surfaces in Europe he was able to convince right away and received the Aarne Honkavaara trophy as the top scorer in the SM-liiga in his first year in Finland . After another season at SaiPa, he moved to their league rivals Espoo Blues for the 1999/2000 season . He then signed a contract with the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers of the Swiss National League A . For Rapperswil-Jona he played a total of five years, where he was also in the playoffs of the 2004/05 season in four games for HC Sierre in the National League B on the ice and contributed one goal and six assists. From 2005 to 2007 the Canadian played in the NLA for the ZSC Lions . He then moved to his league rivals EV Zug , where he completed his best point season in Switzerland in the 2007/08 season, whereupon he was elected to the All-Star Team of the National League A.
For the 2010/11 season McTavish returned to SaiPa Lappeenranta from the SM-liiga and scored 22 scorer points in 38 games this season, including 16 goals.
