Damboa is a city in Nigeria and is located in the state of Borno . On January 1, 2007 it had 233,200 inhabitants.
Geography and traffic
Damboa is located in the north-east of the country and is on the A4 national road which leads to Biu (Nigeria) and Maiduguri , the state capital, 90 kilometers away. A junction from the A4 also leads to Chibok.
languages
Hausa is the lingua franca of northern Nigeria. In addition, English is spoken, especially in the university sector, as well as Kanuri and Arabic as idioms of indigenous societies.

Attacks by Islamic fundamentalists
Damboa was the first city and military base there that the Islamist Boko Haram took in July 2014 and burned down many houses. Many residents have fled the city. Meanwhile, the militia, held responsible for the deaths of 15,000 people and the displacement of two million people, has been pushed back by a multinational force from many areas. In July 2016, the central mosque was again attacked by suicide bombers from the Boko Haram.
