Damir Bičanić (born June 29, 1985 in Vukovar , SR Croatia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Croatian handball player . He is 1.95 m tall.

Player career

Damir Bičanić was able to book his first international play with the Croatian handball club of RK Osijek Elektromodul in the 2004/05 EHF Cup season. There was a club change to RK Medveščak Zagreb and then to RK Zagreb . With this team, Bičanić first took part in the EHF Challenge Cup season 2005/06, and then again played internationally with RK Zagreb in the competition for the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in the 2006/07 season. This was also followed by stakes in the 2007/08 EHF CL season. Damir Bičanić moved in the handball season 2008/09 to the Spanish handball club of Ademar León and was used at the Spanish handball club in the EHF CL season 2008/09.

In the summer of 2010 he joined the French first division club Chambéry Savoie HB . In summer 2017 he returned to RK Zagreb. Bičanić plays in the position of a left backcourt player and wears jersey number 77. The 91-time national player (165 goals) is in the squad of the Croatian men's handball team . In the summer of 2012, Bičanić took part in the Olympic Games in London , where he won the bronze medal.

At the end of the 2019/20 season, Damir Bičanić announced his retirement, but will remain with the RK Zagreb club as "Director for international relations and association contacts" in a new management position.
