Daniël de Ridder (born March 6, 1984 in Amsterdam ) is a former Dutch football player .

Career

De Ridder, son of a single Israeli-Kurdish mother, started his career at the Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam . With the club he played in the UEFA Champions League and the 2004/05 UEFA Cup . He scored his first goal in the Dutch first division on May 16, 2004 against Willem II Tilburg . After the season, the son of a Dutchman and an Israeli moved to Spain to Celta Vigo and signed a two-year contract. Here he made his debut on September 25th against Sevilla FC . His only goal in the Primera División he scored on April 2, 2006 against Atlético Madrid . At the end of the 2006/07 season they were relegated to the Segunda División and de Ridder made use of his contractual clause that allowed him to leave Celta free of charge in the event of relegation.

In July 2007 he signed a contract with England's newly promoted Birmingham City . After a year, de Ridder joined Birmingham's Wigan Athletic after relegation . During the winter break of the 2009/10 season he was loaned to Hapoel Tel Aviv . In the 2011/12 season, de Ridder played for the Swiss record champions Grasshopper Zurich and moved to SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie after one season . In the second half of the 2013/14 season he played for RKC Waalwijk . For the 2014/15 season, SC Cambuur brought the 30-year-old to Leeuwarden to improve the quality and experience of his team in the second season after promotion to the Eredivisie.
