Danie Burger
Danie Burger (actually Michiel Daniel Burger; born March 25, 1933 in Lichtenburg ; † January 17, 1990 in Johannesburg ) was a South African - Zimbabwean hurdler , pole vaulter , decathlete and sprinter .
In 1956 he reached the semi-finals for South Africa at the Olympic Games in Melbourne , starting over 110 m hurdles .
Starting for the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyassaland , he won silver in the pole vault at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth in 1962 and was fourth in the 4-by-110-yard relay. He failed over 120 yards hurdles in the run-up.
In 1961 he was English champion in the decathlon.
He set his personal best over 120 yard hurdles of 14.1 s on November 1, 1956 in Pretoria .
