Daniel Druckman (percussionist)

Daniel Druckman (* in New York City ) is an American percussionist and music teacher.

The son of the composer Jacob Druckman studied at the Juilliard School until 1980 , also at the Berkshire Music Center in Tanglewood. Since 1991 he has taught at the Juilliard School. In the same year he became an Associate Principal Percussionist with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra . He has appeared as a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra , the American Composer's Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra in the New and Unusual Music concert series and at concerts in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Tokyo and has worked as a chamber musician with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center , the Da Capo Chamber Players , the American Brass Quintet , the Group for Contemporary Music , Steve Reich and Musicians, and the Philip Glass Ensemble .

As a member of the New York New Music Ensemble and the Speculum Musicae Ensemble , Druckman gave world premieres of works by Milton Babbitt , Elliott Carter , Jacob Druckman , Aaron Jay Kernis , Oliver Knussens , Poul Ruders , Joseph Schwantners , Ralph Shapey and Charles Wuorinens . He has appeared with Alan Feinberg at Dartmouth College , with Fred Sherry at BargeMusic and with Dawn Upshaw at Carnegie Hall , and has recorded Elliott Carter's Eight Pieces for Four Timpani with Bridge Records and Jacob Druckman's Reflections on the Nature of Water with Koch International .
