Daniel E. Winfree
Daniel Edward Winfree (* in Fairbanks , Alaska ) is an American lawyer .
Life
Winfree attended Lathrop High School in Fairbanks , Alaska , where he graduated in 1971. He then studied at the University of Oregon , where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in public finance . At the University of California, Berkeley , he received a Masters of Business Administration from the Graduate School of Business in 1981 and a Juris Doctor from the Boalt Hall School of Law . Winfree now returned to Alaska and began practicing as a lawyer , only from 1982 to 1985 in Anchorage, then from 1985 to 1990 in Valdez and then from 1990 in Fairbanks.
In November 2007 he was appointed Judge at the Alaska Supreme Court by Governor Sarah Palin, filling the vacant seat of Judge Alexander O. Bryner .
Winfree is a member of the Alaska Bar Association , Tanana Valley Bar Association, Western States Bar Conference, and the National Conference of Bar Presidents. He was President of the Alaska Bar Association from 1994 to 1995 and President of the Western States Bar Conference from 1997 to 1998.
He is married and has two children, a daughter and a son. In May 2007, the Alaska Bar Association presented him with the Distinguished Service Award .
