Daniel Oscar Giacomino (born June 28, 1964 in San Francisco ) is an Argentine politician . He was mayor of the city of Cordoba between 2007 and 2011 .

Giacomino was a member of the Partido Nuevo in his time as mayor , but has been a member of the Frente para la Victoria in the Argentine National Congress since 2011 .

Life

Giacomino studied Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC) and graduated with the title of Licentiate . At the university he began his political career in 1986 as a delegate to the faculty council. In 1987 he became student representative on the UNC's general council and in 1990 director of the secretariat for student welfare. Between 1992 and 2003 he was head of the UNC's Institute for Blood Derivatives.

In 2003 he was elected Vice Mayor of Cordoba in Formula with Luis Juez . On the occasion of his election as MP for the PN in the Argentine parliament , he resigned from this office in 2005.

In 2007 he was nominated by the Partido Nuevo as the successor to his party friend Juez for the mayoral election. He clearly won the election with 42 percent of the vote and took office on December 10th of that year.

In the parliamentary elections in 2011 , he managed to enter the Argentine Congress on the list of the Frente para la Victoria .
