Heintz was mainly active in Basel and Bern. In 1559 he became a citizen of Basel and in 1591 a citizen of Bern. There is evidence that he created the Last Supper table in Basel Minster in 1580, stairs in Basel City Hall with a Justizia figure and the Spiesshof in 1581/82 . The guild house for wine people in Basel is attributed to him. In Bern, the central nave vault of the cathedral was built under his direction from 1571–1574 . In addition, he created the renaissance lettner (broken off in 1864) and the Justitia figure on the cathedral portal (today the Bern Historical Museum ), dated 1575 . In 1588 he definitely moved to Bern and took over the office of municipal foreman.
