Daniel Helfrich (born March 7, 1973 in Weinheim ) is a German cabaret artist , composer , pianist , singer , band leader and presenter .

Life

Daniel Helfrich (pianist, singer, cabaret artist, composer, presenter and band leader) was born in 1973 in Weinheim. Growing up in Grasellenbach-Scharbach (Odenwald), he started playing the piano at the age of 7.

After graduating from high school and doing community service, studied from 1994 to 1999 at the Heidelberg University of Education (subjects: music and catholic theology). As a piano and keyboard teacher, he taught from 1992 to 2002 at the “Youth Music School Überwald-Weschnitztal eV”.

Since completing his studies in 1999, Daniel Helfrich has been working as a freelance artist. Initially mostly as a pure solo pianist and singer. During this time he framed gala evenings, private celebrations and company events, played a. a. on Aida ships and was regularly booked in various first-class hotels across Europe.

As a member of the rock'n'roll show band "The Crazy Petticoats", he shows his creative class as well as together with top musicians in the jazz area in various trio and quartet line-ups. Concert tours as a musician have taken him to Hungary, Nigeria, Czechoslovakia, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Rome. With the Indian tabla player Shahdaab Roshan Bhartiya, he produced a CD with his own compositions in Bombay / India in 2007.

From 2006 the Odenwälder resident in Berlin is now almost exclusively on the road as a piano cabaret artist in the entire German-speaking area. With his five previous cabaret solo programs, he was nominated for various cabaret prizes (Stuttgart Lied and Chanson Competition, Paulaner Solo, Cabaret Kaktus, the Black Sheep from the Lower Rhine, Obernburger Mühlstein, Krefeld Crow, etc.). In June 2007 he won the 31st Trier Comedy Slam and qualified for the annual finale of the talent factory of the Quatsch Comedy Club in Berlin in March 2008. 2011–2012 he was a participant in the Cabaret Bundesliga. In 2013 he was honored as the winner of the 4th Bad Essener Kultur Kanapees. In 2017 he was named the winner of the Mannheim Comedy Cup 2017 at the Capitol Mannheim.

He worked as a copywriter and co-author, including a. for "Cabaret Shower", the ensemble of Klapsmühl´ Mannheim and has been commissioned with several compositions for various theater and musical productions since 2016. Since 2008 he has moderated and organized the monthly "Kultursalon" show in the Sapperlot Theater in Lorsch. Daniel Helfrich has had his main residence in Weinheim since 2018.

Daniel Helfrich has been at home on stages as a musician and entertainer for over 30 years. He describes his art of entertainment as a cabaret artist as critical of society, media and consumption, presented in a bizarre way. Daniel Helfrich doesn't just want to play words, he also wants to bite into words. Sayings are reversed, terms are crossed anew, he collages and reassembles. This also applies to the patchwork oeuvre of his musical quotations and style imitations. He always has a catchy tune on the hook. Helfrich's performance is a mixture of rousing piano music with fervently performed, wonderfully weird and somewhat morbid, sometimes more, sometimes less serious texts.… Whimsical, witty piano cabaret with an absolute guarantee of laughter.
