Daniel Patrick Horan OFM (born November 15, 1983 in Pensacola , Florida ) is an American Franciscan , priest , theologian and author . He is currently an Assistant Professor of Fundamental Theology at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. He writes a column for the National Catholic Reporter .

Early life and education

He studied theology and journalism at St. Bonaventure University , and continued his studies at the Washington Theological Union . He received the Ph.D. Degree in Systematic Theology from Boston College .

Career

Horan has taught at the Faculty of Religious Studies at Siena College in Loudonville, New York , as well as summer courses at the Theological Faculties at St. Bonaventure University , Boston College, and the Catholic Theological Union. He also served on the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Thomas Merton Society. He also acts as a leader of spiritual retreats .

The main topics of the Franciscan Father are Franciscan theology, philosophy and spirituality ; He has also published on the American Trappist Thomas Merton and has given lectures on Merton in North America and Europe. The spirituality of the "Millennial" generation is also a research field of Fr. Horan.

Digital discourse on social media and in the online versions of Catholic magazines forms a foundation of Horan's work as a theologian and preacher.
