Daniel Innthaler

Daniel Innthaler (born July 20, 1847 in Naßwald, municipality of Schwarzau im Gebirge ; † December 26, 1923 there ) was an Austrian mountain guide .

Life

Innthaler was a woodcutter and miner. In his free time he explored new climbing tours on the Rax and in particular on the Bald Masons. He led famous Viennese mountaineers such as Emil Zsigmondy , Otto Zsigmondy and Otto Schück through these and others . In 1884 Innthaler officially became a mountain guide. In 1885 he and Eduard Suchanek successfully climbed the north face of the Planspitze for the first time . Innthaler is considered the best climber in the Viennese mountain climbing circle and was a member of the Austrian Alpine Club from 1887 to 1894 .

Innthaler is buried in the Protestant cemetery in Naßwald.

Honors

In 1925, a truncated pyramid-shaped monument with a plaque with the inscription "The developer of the bald walls" was erected immediately south of the Habsburg house on the Rax , the Daniel Innthaler monument .

In Reißtal a memorial tablet with the inscription "To the catalogers the Kahlmäuer" at a rest area. Immediately next to it there is another plaque in memory of Konrad Kain .
