Daniel Khalikov (* 1984 in Tashkent , Uzbekistan ) is an Uzbek violinist .

Life

Khalikov was born into a family of musicians in Tashkent. At the age of six he received his first professional violin lessons from Nathan Mendelssohn at the “Uspensky School”, a music high school for musically gifted children attached to the Tashkent State Conservatory. A year later he gave his first concert in his hometown.

In 1995, at the age of eleven, he won 5th prize at the “Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists” (“Menuhin Competition” for short) in Folkestone ( Great Britain ).

Later Khalikov studied a. a. at the Curtis Institute of Music ( Philadelphia , USA) with Rafael Druian and at the Toulouse Conservatory with Burkhart Godhoff . He completed masterclasses with Itzhak Perlman as part of the “Perlman Music Program”, with Pinchas Zukerman as a member (2001–2005) of the “National Arts Center Young Artists Program” (Canada), the “ Tokyo String Quartet ” at the “Norfolk Chamber Music Festival” "As well as with Ida Haendel and Joseph Silverstein at the" Verbier Academy ". Khalikov later studied at the Manhattan School of Music and graduated from Patinka Kopec and Pinchas Zukerman .

As a chamber musician, he has played with Yefim Bronfman , Ralph Kirshbaum , and Michael Tree at the music festivals in Tanglewood , Verbier , Norfolk (Connecticut) and at the "Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival" in Santa Fe (New Mexico) .

Khalikov is an internationally sought-after violinist and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in various cities in the USA, Canada, Europe, Kazakhstan and in his home country Uzbekistan. He has played with various orchestras in the largest concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. In January 2007 he made his debut in the concert series "Aber Diamond" on CBC Radio Canada.

Khalikov plays a violin by Gennaro Gagliano ( Naples , 1700–1770). Occasionally he also gives concerts with his uncle Anton Jivaev and his sister, the pianist Elena Jivaeva .
