Daniel Mögling (* 1546 in Tübingen ; † May 24, 1603 ibid), who also used the pseudonyms Valerius Saledinus , Theophilus Schweighardt and Florentinus de Valentia , was a German doctor and professor at the University of Tübingen .

Life

Daniel Mögling enrolled at the University of Tübingen in 1561. He became a baccalaureus in 1565. He was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. In 1572 he became city ​​physician in Weißenburg, then in Heidelberg and in 1581 in Göppingen . In 1583 he was electoral-Palatinate personal physician and professor in Heidelberg, in 1585 Württemberg personal physician in Tübingen, in 1587 professor at the University of Tübingen and in 1588 dean. In 1596 and 1602 he was rector of the University of Tübingen.

In 1618 Mögling published the Rosicrucian wisdom mirror ( Speculum sophicum rhodo-stauroticum ) under the code name Theophilus Schweighardt .

His portrait, painted either by Jacob Ramsler or by Hans Ulrich Alt in 1590, hangs in the Tübingen professors' gallery .

Mögling was the father of Johann Ludwig Mögling and the grandfather of Johann David Mögling.
