Daniel Njenga (born May 7, 1976 ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon .

In 1994 he set a junior world record with a time of 8: 19.21 minutes in the 3000 meter obstacle course . Soon after, he switched to road running and achieved a time of 1:00:39 h in a half marathon in Tokyo in 1996 . A breakthrough on the full route was initially denied him.

He caused a stir with his second place at the Chicago Marathon 2002 in a time of 2:06:16. He stayed more than five minutes below his best time at the time (2:11:49, tenth place in the 1999 Fukuoka Marathon ). In the five following years he also landed on the podium in Chicago (third in 2003, 2005 and 2007, second in 2004 and 2006), with the exception of the heat race of 2007 always with a time below 2:08.

In 2004 he won the Tokyo International Men's Marathon and in 2007 its successor, the Tokyo Marathon .

Daniel Njenga has lived in Japan since 1991 and was one of the first Kenyans to graduate from a Japanese high school. He starts for the Yakult team .
