Daniel Speck (* 1969 in Munich ) is a German screenwriter and writer .

Life

Daniel Speck's parents and grandfather are educationalists at the University of Munich. His father is Tunisian. After graduating from high school, he traveled to Egypt and Jordan to learn Arabic. He then studied at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the La Sapienza University in Rome. He is a graduate of the script workshop at the University of Television and Film Munich .

Among other things, Speck wrote the scripts for My Crazy Turkish Wedding (2006), Maria, he doesn't like it! (2009) and Antonio, he doesn't like it! (2016). His work for the Pro Sieben production My Crazy Turkish Wedding has won several awards. At the Baden-Baden TV Film Festival in 2006 he received the jury's award and the 3sat audience award. This was followed in 2007 by the Grimme Prize and the Bavarian Television Prize for the best screenplay. In addition, there were nominations for the German Television Prize 2006 and the Civis Media Prize 2007.

Speck also works as a dramaturge. He also teaches as a lecturer (screenplay) at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb) and the International Film School Cologne (ifs).
