Kamal wants to give up immediately and leaves when he realizes that he is not wanted. But Barbara doesn't give up anytime soon and fetches him back, followed by her father, who was talked into conscience by his wife. The harmony between the two generations looks different, however, and there is a real exchange of blows between Gottfried and Kamal. While Barbara's father thinks he has to convey German values ​​and Christianity to the stranger, Kamal counters with facts. Countless German terms such as cinnamon or even alcohol originally come from Kamal's homeland and Jesus was also a Jew after all. Gottfried finds it very difficult to digest. He also fears that Kamal might be a terrorist in disguise . But when Barbara told her father that she would love Kamal, he couldn't think of any counter-argument and so he promised his daughter to be a little nicer in the future. He actually makes an effort and tries to work towards a "ceasefire".

After Christmas is over and New Year's Eve is approaching, Gottfried wants to get fireworks with Kamal: Gottfried says, however, that they are going to buy explosives. When he then has to find out that he is going to be a grandfather, he does not see this as a “virgin conception” of his daughter, but as a failure of German pharmacy . Kamal decently asks Gottfried for his daughter's hand. But he has to digest it first and fears the downfall of the West . Barbara now also has doubts, but her mother encourages her to continue to stand by her child's father. Without further ado, she also visits the pastor, who, however, is of the opinion that a mixed-religious marriage is not possible.

Over time, Gottfried realizes that the new, strange son-in-law is more like him than he actually thought. Much seems to be repeating itself, because when he married his wife and moved to Bavaria, he converted to Catholicism. But in contrast to him, Kamal fights for his faith and does not think about converting. In addition, he and his friend Yusuf have developed a mobile app that seems very promising to him and that can make them financially independent. Barbara and Kamal get into an argument about this and their relationship is supported by a crisis. When Kamal's relatives from Bethlehem also arrive, there are further disagreements. At first, the fathers seem to get along, but when Lisbeth insists that her daughter get married here in the church and Kamal's father insists on an Islamic wedding, an intercultural disaster ensues. Neither side wants to back off and so Kamal leaves with his family. Barbara is very unhappy about this and now it is Gottfried who can make it clear to Kamal that one has to make sacrifices for love. And he finds the solution: He suggests Kamal's father to make decisions like Salomon and not to stand in the way of the happiness of their children. Since Gottfried has a captain's license that authorizes him to marry bride and groom, he would use this office and unite the young happiness without religious compulsion. Kamal's father is convinced and agrees. But Gottfried secretly gets a registrar for help, who secures the legal formalities while he takes care of the form of the ceremony. He does this very convincingly, but his daughter has a very special surprise in store: She gives her promise to Kamal in his native language.

Nine months later, Gottfried becomes the grandfather of a pair of twins. He relaxes and realizes that you have all the time in the world if you stop worrying about your children. He travels with his Lisbeth and leaves their house on the Ammersee to the children.
