Daniela Gaugler

Daniela Gaugler-Schädler (* 1962 ; resident in Nuglar-St. Pantaleon ) is a former Swiss politician ( SVP ).

Life and work

Daniela Gaugler is married to Christoph Gaugler and has three grown children. The couple jointly run the plastering company F. Gaugler AG , which was founded by Christoph's father Ferdinand. Gaugler lives in Lausen .

Daniela Gaugler has been a member of the TCS board of Basel since 2011 .

Daniela Gaugler was elected to the District Administrator of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft in 2005 .

Gaugler belonged to the following commissions:

  • 2005–2007: Justice and Police Commission
  • 2007–2010: Environment and Energy Commission
  • 2008–2014: Building and Planning Commission
  • 2010–2012: Business Audit Commission

Bed-and-breakfast affair and resignation

For the year in office from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015, Gaugler was elected President of the District Administrator on June 26, 2014. Shortly thereafter, the media reported about a house in the Lausen industrial zone owned by her and her husband, and investigations by the cantonal building inspectorate. The house was registered as a bed and breakfast , but apartments had been built in and rented out. On October 8, Gaugler received the building inspectorate's order, which it did not make public. However, details did reach the media. In it the building inspectorate confirmed that the apartments had been illegally installed and rented and ordered their dismantling. On October 16, 2014, the Lausen municipal council confirmed these incidents in a media release. The next day, Daniela Gaugler resigned from her offices as District Administrator and District Administrator with immediate effect.
