Daniela Willimek

Daniela Willimek (born Daniela Steinbach on January 28, 1962 in Bretten , Baden-Württemberg ) is a German pianist and lecturer at the Karlsruhe University of Music .

Life

Willimek completed a music degree with a major in piano at the Karlsruhe University of Music and at the Vienna Conservatory . She passed her diplomas, final artistic exams and concert exams with distinction. She was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation , the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation Bayreuth and the Brahms Society Baden-Baden and took an active part in masterclasses with Tatjana Nikolaijewa, Stefan Askenase and Jean Micault , among others . Daniela Willimek received several prizes and awards under her maiden name at national and international piano competitions, for example one of the medals of the city of Épinal at the 1983 Épinal International Piano Competition, 2nd prize at the 1986 Competition of the State Music Universities of the Federal Republic of Germany and West Berlin, and at the Friends of the University of Music Karlsruhe in 1986 the 1st prize and in the competition of the GEDOK Prize Foundation, competition of German and Austrian musicians in 1988, the concert prize, combined with a tour of Germany.

Radio and television recordings with her were broadcast on SWR television , Deutschlandradio , NDR , WDR and SDR , among others . Daniela Willimek performs regularly and has given concerts in Austria, France, Sweden and Brazil. She was a juror at several piano competitions, including Jugend musiziert .

The award of the GEDOK concert prize was the starting point of her intensive engagement with women composers, from which the CD series “Fascination of Women's Music”, produced under her maiden name Daniela Steinbach, resulted. These include first recordings of works by the Romanian composers Violeta Dinescu and Myriam Marbé and the Karlsruhe composer Margarete Schweikert, as well as works by Grazyna Bacewicz, Luise Adolpha Le Beau, Lili Boulanger , Fanny Hensel , Elisabeth von Herzogenberg, Augusta Marianna Holmès, Ilse Fromm-Michaels Martinez and Clara Schumann.

In addition to her pianistic and educational work, she writes articles on topics in the field of music education and music theory, occasionally works as a songwriter and, together with her husband, has been the initiator of an international study on musical harmonies and emotions on the theory of aspiration since 2008, at the below among others the Vienna Boys' Choir and the Regensburger Domspatzen took part.
