Daniele Dondé (born December 3, 1950 in Cremona ) is an Italian painter, the inventor of "Legal Faux Art" and at the same time its most important representative.

Life

Daniele Dondé grew up in a wealthy family in Cremona, Italy, and inherited an extensive collection of paintings by well-known artists. Unfortunately, to his surprise, many of the works turned out to be forgeries, although they were originally sold to his parents as originals. However, his disappointment turned into euphoria when he discovered that counterfeits could also be sold as counterfeits. So he began to make copies of old paintings and in 1984 even patented a certificate for forgeries that practically legalized them as works of art. With his art he put an end to the counterfeiting of works of art and created a completely new trend within the art world. Dondé called it "Legal Faux Art" (imitation art). The idea of creating a second, affordable original, as it were, became a global movement. As an autodidact, Daniele Dondé taught herself the craft of the painter. His influences include Van Gogh , Gustav Klimt and Andy Warhol .

Career

Daniele Dondé had his first exhibition in 1984 in Milan at the Hilton Hotel. His final breakthrough came two years later with his exhibition at the Hotel Ritz in Madrid . Exhibitions in Rome, Geneva, Zurich, Munich, Madrid, Istanbul, Paris, London, New York, Moscow, Sydney, Tokyo, St. Moritz, Gstaad and Monte Carlo followed.

style

Daniele Dondé combines different techniques in his works.

The artist also uses this mix of different techniques, also known as mixed media, to freshen up old masterpieces (by Renoir, Dali, Klimt, among others) with a touch of glamor. So as the starting point of a new work z. For example, a legal master copy of Renoir's “Les Deux Soeurs” by Dondé was made and then refined with gold elements, pearls and crystals.

His "Stradivari Rock" series consists of violins from the Academia Cremonensis from his native Cremona, which he paints and, depending on the work of art, adorned with additional precious stones and precious metals (e.g. 18 carat gold or silver).
