Danielle Gagnaux-Morel (born June 4, 1963 in Friborg ) is a Swiss politician and State Chancellor of the Canton of Friborg . She is a member of the Christian Democratic Party.

Life

Catholic , from La Brillaz (Lentigny), Freiburg and Murist. Her parents are Bernard Morel, a farmer in Lentigny , and Marie-Madeleine nee. Roulin, from Lentigny , born in Treyvaux . In 1989 she married Bernard Gagnaux (born December 1, 1961), a cheese maker, then a househusband and currently an animal keeper.

After primary school in Lentigny-Corserey (five years), Danielle Gagnaux-Morel attended the Holy Cross College (seven years), from which she graduated with the Matura Type A (Latin-Greek). She studied at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and obtained her agricultural engineering diploma in 1987. She completed her education with various courses. While she was working, she trained as a journalist at the Center romand de formation des journalistes in Lausanne (1989–1990).

Danielle Gagnaux-Morel began her professional career from 1988–1989 as editor of the Agri-Journal, the official organ of the Freiburg Farmers' Association. In addition, she worked in the Freiburg Chamber of Agriculture. From 1989 to 1993 she was secretary of the Swiss Farmers' Union (SBV) in Western Switzerland and was also responsible for contacts with the Western Swiss sections of the SBV and the Western Swiss media, as well as for PR work (school on the farm, August 1st brunch). She represented the SBV in several federal commissions (National Fund, research stations, consumer issues). From 1993 to 1994 she was a personal assistant to the head of the “Livestock” department of the Federal Office for Agriculture. In 1994 she was the first woman to be appointed by the Federal Council to head a federal research institute for agriculture (Research Institute for Animal Production Posieux). From 1994 to 2005 she headed this research institute and then the Federal Research Institute for Animal Production and Dairy Industry, which emerged from the merger between the Freiburg institute and the Research Institute for Dairy Industry in Liebefeld (BE). She held this position until her election as State Chancellor.

In addition, Danielle Gagnaux-Morel worked in the political, educational and legal fields. From 1991 to 1994 she was a local councilor in Corserey and a member of the finance commission appointed by the local council. She is also a deputy judge at the Saane District Court.

Appointed State Chancellor by the State Council, Danielle Gagnaux-Morel has held this office since June 1, 2005. As the canton's first female chancellor, she began implementing projects that her predecessor René Aebischer had launched: codification of the protocol of the State Council, government vademecum, regulation on information, establishment of the information office, drafting of the new information law and Standardization of the internet presence of all government agencies.

With the assumption of office of Danielle Gagnaux-Morel, the separation of the State Council and Grand Council Secretariat, as envisaged by the new cantonal constitution of May 16, 2004 , came into effect. This means a big change insofar as the tasks of the State Chancellery, which now only depends on the State Council, have to be redefined.
