Daniil Leonidowitsch Andrejew (also: Daniel Andrejew; Russian Даниил Леонидович Андреев ; born November 2, 1906 in Berlin , †  March 30, 1959 in Moscow ) was a Russian writer and poet .

Life

Andrejew is the son of Alexandra Veligorskaja, great niece of the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko , and the writer and playwright Leonid Andrejew . Since his mother died shortly after giving birth, he was taken in and raised by her parents. In 1929 he completed the higher literary courses in Moscow and worked as a typesetter, as the publication of his works in what was then Russia was impossible for political reasons. He gave readings in close circle of friends.

In 1942 he was called up for military service and in 1944 he returned to Moscow . In 1947 all manuscripts were confiscated and destroyed, combined with 19 months of pre-trial detention. He was sentenced at that maximum penalty of 25 years imprisonment for anti-Soviet propaganda, forming an anti-Soviet group and preparation of an attack on Stalin, which he in the prison camp Vladimirovka in the city of Vladimir had served. In 1956 his term of imprisonment was reduced to 10 years by the Commission to Revise the Judgments of Political Prisoners as a result of the efforts of his future wife Alla Andreyeva and friends.

In 1957 he was released from prison in hopeless health. Between 1957 and 1959 some manuscripts were restored, especially by Rosa Mira . In 1958 Daniil and Alla married. They then spent a few months in the North Caucasus and moved back to Moscow in early 1959 , where he died in late March. Daniil Andrejew was buried next to his mother and grandmother in the Novodevichye cemetery.

Works

Almost all of Andreev's works were written before 1947. However, because of their anti-Soviet content, these were destroyed by the Russian State Security ( MGB ). His novella Wanderer der Nacht ( Russian : Странники ночи ), in which he wrote about the spiritual opposition to the Soviet regime and to atheism , was also destroyed. During his imprisonment, Andreyev was able to rewrite some of his poems. In the novel Wanderer der Nacht he managed to do this only to a small extent. A friend was able to keep some of his works safe, including his first poems, which he wrote at the age of eight.

During his imprisonment Andreyev had “mystical visions” and began to write his work Rosa Mira , which he only finished after his release. The book was in the Soviet Union in the self-publishing (samizdat) printed, but first officially published posthumously 1,991th Since then, numerous new editions have followed, the publication of his complete works of poems and poems ( Russian : Стихотворения и поэмы ), letters from prison and translations of Rosa Mira .

In his book Rosa Mira ("The Rose of the World") he describes in detail different levels of spiritual realities which, according to Andrejew, surround the earth. This new emerging religion, called the "Rose of the World", aims to unite people and states. He also describes the coming and fall of the Antichrist .

In addition to his main work Rosa Mira , he wrote the poem Iron Mysticism ( Russian : Железная мистерия), which was only published in 1990, and he himself described it as a "poetic example". He also wrote the poem Russian Gods ( Russian : Русские боги ) (published 1993) and other works.
