Rosa Mira - The Rose of the World ( Russian : Роза Мира ) is the life's work of the poet and mystic Daniil Andrejew , which was secretly written in the Stalinist prison .

History of origin

During his imprisonment (1947-1957) in Wladimir had Andreyev "mystical visions" and began his work Rosa Mira to write, which he finished only after his release in 1958th His works were repeatedly confiscated and destroyed. Nonetheless, he continued to write - on newspaper margins and wrapping paper. Fellow prisoners helped hide these texts. When he was released, he was unable to carry the extensive material out of prison. His wife, Alla Andrejewa, succeeded in doing this, and the prison director personally handed her the sack with the manuscripts. There followed a period of uninterrupted editing of the manuscripts. Shortly before his death, he gave this work to his wife. The end of the Khrushchev thaw was approaching and the reins were tightened again under Brezhnev . One version of the book was buried under a tree in a forest in the North Caucasus , where Andreyev spent a few months with his wife shortly before his death. A second version of the manuscript was kept at home and kept under lock and key for thirty years, always in danger of being discovered and destroyed. The manuscripts themselves, as they were brought out of prison, have been transferred to England . The book was copied and photographed in the Soviet Union in the 1980s and self-published (samizdat) . In 1991 it was officially released. In 2003, work began on the German edition at Wega publishing house.
