Danilo Toninelli (born August 2, 1974 in Soresina , Cremona Province ) is an Italian politician of the M5S .

From June 2018 to September 2019 he was Minister for Infrastructure and Transport in the Conte I cabinet .

Life

Danilo Toninelli studied law at the University of Brescia and received the Laurea in 1999, after he served until 2001 as officer on time at the Carabinieri . Then he worked for an insurance company.

In 2010 he ran unsuccessfully on the list of the M5S in the regional elections in Lombardy. In the parliamentary elections in 2013 he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for the M5S . In the parliamentary elections on March 4, 2018 , he was elected to the Senate and elected by the parliamentary group to chair the M5S parliamentary group.

As the political heavyweight of his party, he was set for a key position in the cabinet during the coalition negotiations with the Lega under Matteo Salvini .

Toninelli was sworn in as Minister for Infrastructure and Transport in the Conte I cabinet on June 1, 2018 .
