Soresina is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8857 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Cremona in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 22 kilometers northwest of Cremona and about 15 kilometers southeast of Crema between the rivers Serio (about 11 kilometers in the west) and Oglio about 6 kilometers in the northeast.
history
The village was probably built between the 10th and 11th centuries. The place name should be derived from the Sol Regina (Queen Sun) contained in the coat of arms . Probably the first time Soresina was destroyed by Lothar III. between 1133 and 1136.

Soresina is on the former Strada Statale 498 Soncinese , which has been downgraded to a provincial road. The Cremona – Iseo railway has been closed since 1958. Today's station is now served by trains on the Treviglio – Cremona line.
