Castelleone is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 9454 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Cremona in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 27 kilometers northwest of Cremona and about 9 kilometers southeast of Crema . The Serio Morte flows through Castelleone and flows into the Serio (west of the municipality).

Historic city center

Presumably there was a settlement from the 10th century. The current name suggests the description of a fortification. The name is first mentioned in documents in 1188.

Within the area next to the main town which are fractions Corte Madama, Le Valli, Pellegra and San Latino, as well as the residential places Alda, Battaglia, Cavagnolo, Corte Llona, Gramignana, Guzzafame, Molino Lurano, Pradazzo, San Giacomo, Tera Santo Spirito and Valseresino.

From Cremona to Crema (and on to Milan ) the former Strada Statale 415 Paullese runs through the village and the municipality . Castelleones station is on the Treviglio – Cremona railway line .
