Calvatone is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1171 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Cremona in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 32.5 kilometers from Cremona on the Oglio and Parco dell'Oglio Sud and borders directly on the province of Mantua .

history

Two battles took place near the ancient Bedriacum in AD 69. After Nero's death, Otho and Vitellius tried to enforce their claim to power. The first battle in April ended in a victory for Vitellius. Another battle broke out in October. Vespasian now entered the conflict with Vitellius. Under Mark Antony Primus, the Flavian troops were victorious. This secured Vespasian's claim to the principate.
