Danius Lygis

Danius Lygis (born September 15, 1948 in Molėtai Rayon , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian ecologist , lecturer at MRU University , former politician, Lithuanian environmental protection minister and deputy environment minister .

biography

After graduating from Suginčiai Middle School in 1964 , Danius Lygis studied at the Panevėžys Technical Center for Hydromelioration and later biology and then ecology at Vilnius University . He completed his aspirant degree by distance learning and did his doctorate at the Institute of Botany . Since 1996 he has been a lecturer at VGTU and later also at MRU . Danius Lygis is the Head of the Genetically Modified Organisms Sub-Department of the Nature Conservation Department in the Ministry of the Environment of Lithuania .

Danius Lygis is married to Ms. Alė, a VGTU employee, and they have sons Ramūnas, an economist, and Vaidotas, a forest scientist.
