Dietmar Franzisci

Dietmar Franzisci (born June 25, 1953 in Wolfsberg , Carinthia ) is an officer in the Austrian Armed Forces and former head of Section II (planning) in the Federal Ministry for National Defense and Sport with the rank of lieutenant general .

Life

Dietmar Franzisci was born on June 25, 1953 in Wolfsberg. After completing his basic military service from 1971 to 1972, he completed officer training at the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt. From 1975 to 1982 he was the commander of a hunter company. After completing his general staff training at the National Defense Academy in Vienna from 1982 to 1985, he became G3 and deputy chief of staff in the Carinthian military command from 1985 to 1991 .

He then moved to the Federal Ministry and was entrusted with the management of the General Staff Department. In 1995 he became G2 at what was then Corps Command I in Graz . In 1998 he returned to the ministry as deputy head of the overall military planning department. In 2000 Dietmar Franzisci became head of the military strategy department and two years later head of the concept planning group and deputy head of the army reform commission.

From 2005 he was Chief of Staff in the Armed Forces Command and since January 31, 2008 he was appointed by Defense Minister Norbert Darabos as Head of Section II (Planning) in the Ministry. On July 3, 2013, Lieutenant General Franz Leitgeb followed him in this role and he retired.

Lieutenant General Franzisci is married and has three children.
