Danmarks holme is an island belonging to Sweden in the Stockholm archipelago .

geography

It is located east of the northern end of Skurusundet , only about 70 meters from the mainland and belongs to the municipality of Nacka . To the southwest is the island of Sveriges holme . The passage from the Baltic Sea to Stockholm runs north of the island . Danmarks holme (translated: Denmark's island, see Holm ) covers 9 885 m² and extends from north to south over about 140 meters and from west to east over about 110 meters. The island is lined with trees and built on with six residential houses (three permanent buildings, three cottages) with a total living area of 350 m².

history

The origin of the island name is not clear. It is sometimes assumed that the Danes, led by King Christian II, besieged the island with the Swedish fleet around Pohjankuru in the 1500s. A publication from the 17th century names the small island Dane , on a 1724 map it is called Dannemarck . The island has been inhabited since the 17th century.
