The Dannensternhaus in Riga
An information board indicates the architectural monument

The Dannensternhaus ( Latvian Dannenšterna nams ) is a historical building complex in Riga and is registered as an architectural monument. It was built in 1696 in the baroque style.

The building complex in the historic old town, at the address Marstallstraße ( Mārstaļu iela ) 21, in the immediate vicinity of the former port facility in front of the Riga city wall and later the Marstall Bastion, is a mixture of a representative building and a warehouse .

On the first floor there was a large hall and the office with the office and business premises. A reception room was dedicated to the owner's prominent guests; this was on the main floor along with the owner's private rooms. The interiors are lavishly decorated with stucco, carvings and Delft tiles. The property also had a barrel vaulted basement and two backyard buildings.

The facade of the front building is structured by pilasters . The ground floor was faced with large-format limestone slabs, which is a typical decoration for 17th century Hanseatic houses, which can also be found in Tallinn . Parts of the building sculpture on the facade could be attributed to the builder D. Walter .

If the two lower floors of the front building served as living and business premises, the five significantly lower floors above were used as warehouses under the pitched roof. There were hatches on the floors for transport and an elevator system consisting of two block winches was installed.

In September 2010, workers began restoring the entrance area. The last documented conversions took place between 1933 and 1936.
