In his first season he played eight games in the regular season and two in the play-offs. In the 2005 season he was used several times and played his way up to the starting eleven. A year later he was only able to play four games for the crew due to injuries.

It was never used in a league game. At the end of January 2008 he was loaned to Brescia Calcio . He was used several times for the Italian second division and was even able to score his first goal in his professional career. In summer 2008 the loan was extended by one year.
On July 13th, 2009 Szetala returned to Spain . His contract was not extended. He saw no option to continue his career in Europe and returned to the USA in 2009. He has since played for DC United , who secured the rights to him. After only four games in Major League Soccer, he was released on March 20, 2010.
