Danube Flats is the project of a 167 meter high residential tower on the banks of the Danube in Donau City in Vienna's 22nd district, Donaustadt . Around 600 residential units are to be built over 49 floors.

After years of delays due to a lack of building permits, construction is scheduled to start in April 2019, with completion scheduled for 2023 Template: future / in 3 years.

competition

On April 19, 2012, the tender documents for the Danube Flats project were handed over to a group of teams of architects. The task of this competition was to develop a residential area with attractive uses on the approximately 1.24 hectare property at Wagramer Straße 2 , especially on the ground and basement floors.

On September 5, 2012, the decision was made on the design by project A01 architects ZT GmbH, Vienna .

On November 16, 2018, the administrative court in Vienna confirmed the building permit for the “Danube Flats” high-rise project in the Donaustadt, thereby rejecting complaints from residents.

criticism

The Kaisermühlen initiative criticizes the fact that the construction of the Danube Flats could lead to a deterioration in the quality of life for the residents of the Neue Donau high-rise , on the one hand due to the restricted view of the Danube, on the other hand due to the feared increase in noise and wind.
