Dao Timni (also Dao Timmi ) is an oasis and a military base in northeastern Niger , 75 kilometers northeast of Séguédine and 160 km south (as the crow flies) of Madama . Dao Timni is located at 13.5407 ° E, 20.55885 ° N in the Bilma department in the Agadez region .

The Dao Timni well has good drinking water from an aquifer at a depth of 10 meters . The place was a station on a side route of the historic Bornustraße , but was not permanently inhabited until the 20th century. The water point Bir Yat on one of the main routes of the Bornus road is only 6 kilometers away from Dao Tamni. In Tedaga , in the Tubu language, the name means "palms" and is derived from the fact that the first palm grove along the Bornus road was (and is) to be found here since the last foothills south of the Tedscheri (Tegerhi) oasis in Fessan , several hundred kilometers further north.

In 1938, the French established a garrison in Dao Timni. In the 1990s, a minefield was created near the site to fight a Tubu uprising . For a few years now, Dao Timni has been a military base again, now for a small unit of the Nigerien army. Its purpose is to control and limit smuggling and, in particular, illegal migration. a. as part of Operation Barkhane . In the vicinity of Dao Timni there are prehistoric rock carvings depicting animals and people.
