Daouda Sow (politician)

Daouda Sow (* 1933 ; † December 6, 2009 in Dakar ) was a Senegalese politician .

biography

Sow was a member of the Socialist Party (Parti Socialiste) of the former President Abdou Diouf and rose to become General Secretary of the party in the Linguère department in the Louga region , from which Diouf also came.

In 1984 he was elected President of the National Assembly (Assemblée Nationale) and held this office until his replacement by Abdoul Aziz Ndao after the parliamentary election on May 24, 1998. In addition, he was Deputy Secretary General of the Parti Socialiste (PS) and was up to his Death member of the PS Advisory Committee. From 1988 to 1991 he was President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union .

Several leading PS politicians, including members of its political bureau Abdoulaye Bathily , Moustapha Niasse , Djibo Kâ , Habib Sy and Mamadou Seck, took part in the funeral for Sow, who was buried in the parish of Kamb in the Linguère department .
