Fancutt grew up on an estate near Monto in Queensland . Her father, a former jockey , taught her to play tennis. In 1953 she won the Queensland Clay Court Championships. In 1956 she reached the semi-finals of the Australian Championships in singles. At Wimbledon , she made it to the final in doubles with Fay Muller . At the German championships she won the doubles title.
In 1957 she married the South African tennis player Trevor Fancutt , with whom she had reached the semi-finals in mixed at Wimbledon the year before. Since 1962 both have run a tennis center in Brisbane .
