Daphne gnidioides is a vegetable art from the genus Seidelbast ( Daphne ).
features
Daphne gnidioides is a shrub that reaches heights of 50 to 350 centimeters. The branches are long and strong. Young shoots are downy. The leaves measure 25 to 40 × 4 to 7 millimeters and are blue-green, oblong-lanceolate and smell of tar .
The clusters consist of 5 to 8 flowers and have no bracts . The sepals , similar to the petals, are elongated, blunt and white or pink. The axle cups are silky hairy on the outside. The stone fruit is hardly fleshy and leathery.
The flowering period extends from September to November.
Occurrence
Daphne gnidioides is widespread in the northeastern Mediterranean region and occurs in olive groves, phrygana , sandy coasts and crevices as well as rock feet. The occurrences on Crete are at altitudes of 5 to 150 meters.
