Dariusz Łuczak

Dariusz Łuczak (born February 12, 1959 in Hajnówka ) is a Polish lawyer and has been the head of the Polish secret service AWB since 2013 .

Life

Łuczak studied law at the University of Warsaw . From 1981 to 1990 he worked as a mechanics trainer at a vocational school in his hometown and began his involvement in the Solidarność trade union . From 1990 to 1995 he was the deputy head of the regional office in Hajnówka.

His professional contacts with Polish secret services began in 1995. In Urząd Ochrony Państwa (UOP), he last held the rank of colonel . In the years 1999-2001 he held the post of deputy head of the UOP, in order to become head of the AWB office in Białystok in 2002 after the UOP was dissolved . He carried out this activity until 2008. Łuczak's later activity until 2011 included the management of the department "Protection of the economic interests of the state and the fight against organized crime" at the AWB. A year later he headed the office in the capital. In April 2012 he was appointed deputy head of the AWB. In January 2013 he took over the position of AWB manager. Two months later, Łuczak was proposed as a candidate for the head of the AWB and officially appointed to office on April 16, 2013.
