Dark Millennium is a German death metal band from Bad Fredeburg . It was formed around 1990 and released two studio albums on Massacre Records .
history
The band was founded around 1990 in Bad Fredeburg in the Hochsauerlandkreis and released the first demo The Apocryphal Wisdom a little later . The second Demo Of Scepter Their Ashes May Be was recorded in Despair's rehearsal room (CEAG building, Dortmund) on just one weekend. It was produced on an 8-track device by Waldemar Sorychta . The singer at the time was Torsten Gilsbach, who is also responsible for the band logo. Christian Mertens had an advisory role during the recording and contributed backing vocals to Wizardry Assemblage .
In 1992 the band released their debut album Ashore The Celestial Burden on Massacre Records . In the spring of 1993 appearances followed throughout Germany: in January 1993 the "Shadows In The Deep Tour" with Unleashed , Tiamat , Samael ; in April 1993 "Todessehnsucht über Deutschland Tour" ( Atrocity ) / "Fairylands Tour" (as headliner) with guests Cemetery , Incubator , Slapshot , Sickening Gore , Ceremony and Innominandum. Before and after that, there were performances with musicians friends from Morgoth . The second studio album Diana Read Peace did not bring the hoped-for success, and the band broke up in 1994.
In the early 2010s, on the initiative of a fan from the Netherlands, a Facebook page was set up for the band and various record labels asked for a re-release of the two albums. Separately, singer Christian Mertens and guitarist Hilton Theissen met to talk about reuniting the band. In 2015, Century Media reissued the two demos (together under the name Out Of the Past ) and the two albums. At the beginning of 2016, the band announced on their homepage and via social media that they had reformed and were working on new material. Concert activities will also be resumed. The third studio album Midnight In The Void was recorded in the Hilton Theissen studio and released on October 14, 2016.
In April 2018 the band announced that they had signed a new record deal with Massacre Records and announced the release of the album "Where Oceans Collide" for the summer of 2018.
