Darl McBride

Darl McBride (born November 24, 1959 ) is an American manager. He was the managing director of SCO Group Inc. (formerly Caldera International) from June 28, 2002 until his release on October 14, 2009 . During this time he renamed Caldera the SCO Group.

Life path

McBride earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and a Masters degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Darl McBride is a member of the Mormon faith . He speaks Japanese and spent two years in Japan as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints .

From 1988 to 1996 he worked at Novell , first in the Japanese office and later as Vice President and General Manager of Novell's Embedded Systems Division (NEST). He left Novell and became the senior vice president of IKON Office Solutions. The magazine Forbes reported that he sued IKON in 1997 and the US dollar was attributed to a conciliation 3 million. He was also involved in two start-ups, "SBI and Company", a professional services company that he founded and where he worked as CEO; later as CEO of PointServe, a software company. He acquired venture capital for both companies. On August 2, 2000, McBride began his work as president of the online planning business for FranklinCovey , which he carried out until shortly before joining SCO.

On October 14, 2009, McBride was fired by the SCO bankruptcy trustee because his position in the company under a bankruptcy trustee was no longer necessary.

Wave of lawsuits

On March 7, 2003, he started litigation against IBM over intellectual property infringement . Darl McBride's brother, Kevin McBride, is also involved in the litigation as a lawyer. In addition to IBM, Novell , Red Hat , Autozone and DaimlerChrysler were drawn into this wave of lawsuits .
