Darren Almond

Darren James Almond (* 1971 in Appley Bridge , Lancashire , England ) is a London- based conceptual artist in the fields of photography, film and sculpture.

Life

Darren Almond earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the Winchester School of Art in the south of England in 1993. He initially worked in a variety of media, notably photography and film, to explore the effects of time on the human individual.

In 1997, Almond took part in the Young British Artists Exhibition Sensation , which featured works by all the major young British artists. In 2003 he represented Great Britain at the Venice Biennale . Almond was honored with solo exhibitions at the Tate Gallery and the Nicola Trussardi Foundation. In 2012 the Museum Folkwang showed some of his film installations together with David Claerbout and Anri Sala . The artist is represented by the Matthew Marks Gallery in New York . The Max Hetzler Gallery represents him in Berlin .
