Daryl Johns

Daryl Johns (* around 1995) is an American musician ( double bass ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Johns is the son of drummer Steve Johns and saxophonist Debbie Keefe Johns. At the age of 13, Daryl was a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Bass Competition . He then worked in the New York jazz scene from the early 2010s a. a. with Wallace Roney ( Understanding , 2012), Hod O'Brien , Veronica Swift and Michael Cochrane ( Discovery , 2014), also with Letizia Gambi, Bob Ferrel and Macy Gray . In 2019/20 he was a member of the Philip Dizack Quartet. In the field of jazz, he was involved in nine recording sessions between 2012 and 2016, according to Tom Lord . Johns attends the Manhattan School of Music .

Johns should not be confused with the rock and jazz bassist Darryl Jones (* 1961).
